KURALON is PVA fiber produced with ingredients made from Poval. Kuraray is the world's first manufacturer to commercialize the use of KURALON. Featuring high-strength, low elongation, hydrophilic properties, excellent weatherability and alkali resistance, it plays a vital role in various industrial materials. These include use as a replacement for asbestos as a reinforcing agent in cement, as an alkaline cell separator, in automobile brake hoses, and in ropes and fishing nets.
In addition, KURALON K-II, which is new type of PVA fiber also produced by Poval, is manufactured by cooling cyrogel fibers spun from wet mixed solvents and boasts high strength and low-water solvability.
It can be used as a separator to keep positive and
negative electrodes from coming into contact.
